A power outage is a hassle for any business, but for the Moblas 5 Satellite Laser Ranging Station, loss of power impacts the performance of sensitive equipment and its ability to perform critical tasks.
Located 100 km south-east of Geraldton, Moblas 5 is a part of EOS Space Systems, an Australian publicly-listed company operating in the space tracking industry.

According to station manager Vincent Noyes, one of the biggest challenges facing his team was lack of auxiliary power during power black-outs.
“Because our facility is in a remote location, we often experience power outages, which can be a real problem.
“As well as affecting our aging equipment, power loss prevents us from collecting space data continuously. This, in turn, has a negative effect on the quality and integrity of our data,” said Vincent.
